Barbecued Spareribs 1

Ingredients

  • 6 pounds spareribs
  • Boiling salted water
  • 1 onion, studded with cloves
  • 1 teaspoon rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 teaspoon marjoram
  • 1 teaspoon oregano

BARBECUE SAUCE:

  • 1 cup catsup
  • 1/3 cup molasses
  • 2 tablespoon cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder

Directions

Cut spareribs into generous serving pieces.

Cover with boiling salted water and add onion and herbs. Bring to boil and simmer just until tender, about 50 minutes.

Drain and place meat in a shallow pan.

Combine and mix well barbecue sauce ingredients; pour over meat and let stand in refrigerator until ready to barbecue.

Grill over hot coals or bake in a 350 degree oven, basting frequently with sauce until ribs are browned and glazed, 1/2 to 3/4 hour.
